Heroes

To the two ladies who came down to my classroom in the drama "cave" the other day for the sole purpose of giving me a hug, I just want to say thank you. I can't express how much that meant to me, and though I know I was too surprised and awkward to even show it, I am so, so grateful for the two of you.

My pleasure! You know, we really are a fine department. The principal told me after my recent evaluation (only so-so for me) that we have an excellent English department. I assume that, though he could not legally express it, he must acknowledge that we are an extraordinarily good-looking department, too.

Wow, look at the time. To exercise my cliches, I must hit the hay after having my nose to the grindstone, my shoulder to the wheel, and a monkey on my back (I actually have no idea what that one means, but it sounds exhausting.)I had a thrilling soccer tournament to attend today and more of the same tomorrow. Woo-hoo!! Man, don't let anyone ever tell you that I don't know how to have a good time.

Goodnight, and I hope you had a smashing good time with your friends yesterday. Life is sweet, isn't it?
